There are generally four grades of flame retardant grade in standard UL94 for plastic products, namely HB, V2, V1 and V-0.
This is lowest flame retardant rating in THE UL94 standard, which has the lowest requirements for the product. During the test, take some samples of 3-13mm, ignite them, and record the combustion speed. If the combustion speed is less than 40mm/ min, then it meets the standard.
If the thickness of the sample is less than 3mm, then it also meets this standard if the burning rate recorded in the test is less than 70mm/ min.
UL94 – V2.
Similar to the above one, we can choose samples to test and ignited to record the results.
But this grade is stricter. If the sample is burned several times for ten seconds each time, and the flame is extinguished within a minute, then it is rated V-2 regardless of whether any drops are produced during the process.
UL94 – V1.
Two 10-second combustion experiments were conducted on the samples to record the combustion phenomena. If the flame goes out within a minute and no drops are produced, then the sample is rated V-1.
UL94 – where V0.
This grade is the highest in the UL94 flame retardant standard, which requires the highest product requirements. Two 10-second combustion experiments were conducted on the samples, and the experimental results and phenomena were recorded. If the flame goes out within half a minute, and no drops are produced, this indicates that the product meets the V-0 standard.
